Microsoft is ready to release its newest OS--the Windows 10. While many are excited to upgrade from their old Windows 7 or Windows 8 OS, here are some things that you need to know before you take that plunge:

1) It will not be released all at once as it will be released in waves. Newsledge noted that the first to get the upgrade will be the Windows Insiders or Beta Testers. For those who already reserved their own copies via the computer, notifications will be sent once the PC is ready for upgrades.

2) Microsoft will offer 10 years of automatic updates for Windows 10. According to Newsledge, the company added in its Lifestyle Fact Sheet that they will offer support for the OS for 10 years.

3) The automatic updates will be mandatory for home users, so those who will install the update will have to agree to have their PCs updated automatically. Microsoft said in a statement: "The license terms for Windows 10 require Automatic Updates be enabled as part of keeping our customers secure and delivering Windows as a service."

4) The automatic upgrades are like a double edged sword. While it's definitely better to get upgrades as they come, the question remains: What happens if Microsoft releases a buggy upgrade?

5) Microsoft ensured that Xbox One games can be streamed on to Windows 10. Major Nelson has the details on how to get this feature for your Windows 10 device.

6) Windows Central noted that Windows 10 is going to merge the Desktop and Smart menu that people are familiar with on the Windows 7 OS and new things like Live tiles and Modern apps from Windows 8 and 8.1.

7) The new OS can be installed even when your PC has no DVD drive, as a spokesperson from the company told Venture Beat that "Windows 10 will be available on USB drives for purchase in retail channels shortly after launch."

8) Microsoft has designed Windows 10 to run on PCs, smartphones, and other gadgets, which, according to the New York Times, makes it easier for developers to write apps that can run across all these different platforms, giving them a huge potential to market their creations.

9) Microsoft's chief executive Satya Nadella also said that Windows is going to be free on devices with screens that are smaller than nine inches, which means that smartphones and tablets will not have to buy the program separately.

10) As for the price, it really won't cost you so much, the Microsoft spokesperson told Venture Beat that "the suggested retail prices for Windows 10 in the U.S. are the same as Windows 8.1."

Will you be updating soon as the OS is released in its initial waves, or will you be waiting for the bugs and fixes until you're sure the update is out of its Beta test?
