After months of now being seen in WWE matches, the Undertaker made his return on Sunday night at the WWE Battleground. This is the first time that the legendary wrestler made an appearance after he fought with Bray Wyatt last March at Wrestlemania 31, Fan Sided has learned.
It was reported that the Undertaker appeared during the main match of the event between Brock Lesnar and champion Seth Rollins. The report said the Undertaker placed his focus on Lesnar with a beatdown filled with chokeslams and tombstones, which caused the latter the match.
According to Bleacher Report, Lesnar struggled to get back up his feet which Undertaker took as an opportunity to deliver his moves.
"The crowd chants Undertaker's name as he is about to leave, but he changes his mind and goes back for more. He picks up Lesnar and delivers another Tombstone," added the report, noting that Undertaker ended it with his signature pose then left the ramp.
This may have been the Undertaker's revenge after Lesnar ended his winning streak two years ago.
"That match fueled the push behind Lesnar as The Beast for the past year and a half. Lesnar ending the streak has been brought up numerous times in recent weeks by Paul Heyman, which now serves as foreshadowing to Undertaker's return," added Fan Sided.
Aside from the main event, there were also other notable fights during Sunday's WWE Battleground like:
R-Truth vs. King Barrett
Kickoff Match for the Rights to the Crown
Wrestling Inc. said R-Truth started the match with a rap dedicated to the crowd while King Barrett came out with his sceptre and crown. The two battled it out in a match filled with kicks, turns and duplexes. Barrett finally took the match with a Bullhammer.
The Prime Time Players (Titus O'Neil and Darren Young, c) vs. The New Day (Xavier Woods, Kofi Kingston, and/or Big E)
The Prime Time Players took this game along with the WWE Tag Team Championship Match.
Randy Orton vs Sheamus
According to Wrestlezone, Orton started the game strong, hitting Sheamus a few times, which sent him on the floor. This was maintained by Orton, who won outclassed Sheamus until the end of the match.
Roman Reigns vs. Bray Wyatt
The WWE website noted that Wyatt's victory marked the first time he outclassed reign in a one-on-one match since last year.
Divas Triple Threat Match - Brie Bella vs. Sasha Banks vs. Charlotte
Charlotte dominated the match and took him the win this triple threat match.
John Cena (c) vs. Kevin Owens
United States Championship Match
A separate Wrestling Inc. report said Cena defeated Owens who tapped it out at the end of the game, with no other choice left as he lay in the middle of the canvas.
