Pitbull recently opened up about his brand-new Spanish-language album.
The record, which is titled "Dale" (pronounced as "dah-le" in Spanish), was unveiled on July 17 and featured other artists, such as Yandel, Fuego, Osmani Garcia, Gente de Zona, Don Miguelo, and El Micha, among others, Billboard listed. You can download "Dale" on iTunes.
"I'm the epitome of the American dream, the underdog, the fighter, the forever hungry, forever appreciative, that's me," Pitbull said of his musical identity, as reported by Billboard. "And no matter whether I speak Spanish, Portuguese, English, any language, we speak the most powerful language which is music. No matter what words we throw."
The rapper said that he doesn't take advantage of being a member of the Latin community for his career.
"I think we have to be real careful on how we throw culture around because it's not about capitalizing from our culture; it's about teaching people about our culture," Pitbull explained to the news outlet.
"Dale" is Pitbull's ninth studio album and is the follow-up of 2014's "Globalization." His other records include 2004's "M.I.A.M.I.," 2006's "El Mariel," 2007's "The Boatlift," 2010's "Armando," 2011's "Planet Pit," and 2013's "Global Warming," the artist's official site listed.
The recording artist, who was born as Armando Christian Pérez to Cuban parents, was also asked to give his two cents on Donald Trump's inflammatory comments against Mexican immigrants. In his candidacy speech on June 16, the Republican presidential candidate referred to Mexicans as rapists, criminals, and drug dealers.
"My mom used to say the two biggest diseases in the world are greed and ignorance. I think Trump is far from ignorant, but I don't think he really understood what he was saying and the power of Latinos," Pitbull told Billboard. "[He didn't understand] how we're always united, and how we truly respect this country way too much; we respect the liberty it gives us to control our own destiny, and the opportunities it gives us to take our families to other levels. I don't think he really put all that together."
He continued, "But, to each his own. El tipo se comió tremendo cable! [The guy is in hot water]."
Pitbull said in another interview that he refuses to go to Trump's hotels or play in his casinos, given that the real estate magnate is speaking against a culture that he rides and dies for, Breitbart reported. The 34-year-old rapper added that Trump has "a big ego," and that the presidential candidate found a sensitive issue that he enjoys tackling, and "he's going to keep pushing it," the news outlet noted.
