With a location set for Wrestlemania 31, which will be held at Levi Stadium in March 2015, the WWE is focusing on site for SummerSlam, their second major pay-per-view (PPV) on their schedule. Traditionally the WWE has traditionally held the summer PPV at the Staples Center, in Los Angeles, since 2009, but with Wrestlemania 31 being held in the west coast, the company is considering moving the 2015 SummerSlam PPV to New York City, with Madison Square Garden being eyed as a potential site for the event. The WWE may bring the 2015 Royal Rumble at the Staple Center or the Honda Center in Anaheim should they move the summer PPV to the East Coast.
Alberto Del Rio was recently injured during Monday's telecast of Monday Night Raw, after suffering a concussion his match against Sin Cara. Del Rio hurt his head after Sin Cara nailed ADR with a top-rope Sunset Flip PowerBomb. Physician Dr. Chris Amann told WWE.com that Del Rio will be out of action until he can pass an ImPACT test to determine a timetable for the former World Heavyweight Champion's return to the ring.
There may be a heel turn in the works for the tag team of Tons of Funk, Tensai and Brodus Clay, though E!'s reality show Total Divas may hold up their plans for a few weeks. The WWE seemed set to turn the duo and their dancers, the Funkadactyls - Cameron and Naomi - into heels; however, the renewal for a second season of E!'s Total Divas has caused delays in the plans, with the producers of the reality show pushing for the Funkadactyls to remain faces and likeable on television.
The Miz recently talked with the Miami Herald about his February wedding to former WWE Diva Maryse, saying he is looking forward to his nuptials. The Miz recently starred in the ABC Family movie Christmas Bounty, and is looking forward to doing more acting, saying that he is "going to work as hard as I can to entertain those audiences, whether it's on WWE or on a movie from WWE Studios."
Total Nonstop Action (TNA) Wrestling looks to be preparing to part ways with A.J. Styles, whose contract is up on Monday, having failed to come on an agreement on a new contract. Styles, who is a "TNA Original" - performing for the company since their debut in 2002, could not come to terms with the company, with Styles refusing to take a lesser deal. While Styles may seem like a good fit for the WWE, considering Styles' history with Ring of Honor alumnus Daniel Bryan and CM Punk, WWE has expressed a lack of interest in signing "TNA Originals" in the past.
Sting's contract with TNA is also set to expire at the first of the January but indications seem to point he will remain with the company, despite rumors of WWE's interest in signing the WCW icon for a match at WrestleMania 30, possibly against The Undertaker. Sting was recently advertised for a TNA show scheduled for Jan. 16 in Huntsville, Alabama, to go up against Ethan Carter III.
In NXT news, the American Pitbulls - Eddie Edwards and Davey Richards - will have their try-out with the WWE last until March 2014, where a decision will be made on the team's future. The WWE has recently signed English Port Vale goalkeeper-turned-model Stuart Tomlins as well as giving Dragon Gate USA's Ricochet and Combat Zone Wrestling's Pepper Parks tryouts when the WWE Performance Center began Wednesday.
