Gabriel and Rodolfo Riva Palacio's "Un Gallo con Muchos Huevos" ("A Rooster With Many Eggs") will be the first animated film from Mexico premiering in the U.S.
Gabriel said that "it's a dream come true" to be able to show the movie in Hollywood, adding that he and his brother "are very pleased" about the quality they achieved, Fox News Latino reported.
"People won't believe we made it on such a small budget, above all because of the quality," Gabriel shared, as quoted by Fox News Latino. "This is our first movie that begins to compete on the international market, but to go up against DreamWorks and Pixar we still need a lot more money, talent, time, training and studies."
According to the filmmaker, the film has a $5.3 million budget and required a production team consisting of 500 people. It is slated to premiere on August 21 in Mexico, with a Sept. 4 release date at more than 400 movie theaters across the U.S. Watch the trailer below.
"Un Gallo con Muchos Huevos" is the follow-up to the filmmaking brothers' first two animated movies: 2006's "Una Película de Huevos" ("A Film About Eggs") and 2009's "Otra Pelicula de Huevos y un Pollo" ("Another Movie About Eggs and a Chicken"), Fox News Latino reported.
The feature films, which were produced by Huevocartoon Producciones, showcase the voice talents of well-known Mexican artists such as Angelica Vale, Omar Chaparro, Ninel Conde, and Carlos Espejel, La Prensa wrote. The cartoons have garnered recognition across Mexico in different mediums, including television, digital media, and ad campaigns.
"What is a little egg's problem? Just that it doesn't want to be somebody's breakfast and wants to chat with a chicken. And afterwards we said, well, now it's a chicken and what do we do with a chicken?" Gabriel said of the animated films' premise, as quoted by La Prensa.
"Un Gallo con Muchos Huevos" continues the story of Toto the egg, who has now become a young rooster. The third film will take on the themes of the first two features, which combined comedy and drama, Fox News Latino wrote.
According to the news outlet, "Un Gallo con Muchos Huevos" struggled with its low budget, but the Riva brothers worked hard with the production team to create excellent results. The duo used 3-D technology, which required their animators to undergo training and go to work on weekends. Fortunately, the team responded positively to the challenging tasks.
"If we want an exceptional result, we have to make an exceptional effort. There's no other way," Gabriel explained, as quoted by Fox News Latino.
