Nexus is upping its smartphone game, with reports that the latest model is going to be the one to beat this year.
The Nexus 5 2014 scored 85,000 on the AnTuTu benchmark, an Android smartphone ratings app.
Nexus's newest phone beat Samsung's Galaxy S6, which garnered a score of 68,000. Presently, the S6 is the top performer in mobiles, according to GSM Arena.
However according to BGR, caution should be exercised before one gets too excited.
The news site said that benchmarks can appear to have stronger results before the actual release of the phone, and WCCF Tech said that there is no news yet as to the processor that can deliver such strong performance.
The site said that, at present, there are only two processors that can overpower the Exynos 7420 -- the Helio X20 and the Snapdragon 820. However, with only a 70,000 score in AnTuTu, it is unlikely that their Helio X20 will be used in the Nexus 5.
AnTuTu has also detected that the Nexus 5 2015 will be a Full HD Device, a seemingly odd decision from Google as the current model has a 1440 x 2560 pixel resolution, but may have decided to opt for the Full HD as to avoid overkill on a smaller screen.
There will be two versions ready in the market by October, if rumors are correct. There may be a Nexus 5 made by Huawei, and another by LG, with LG manufacturing the smaller version of the two.
Know Your Mobile noted that the LG Version is expected to have a 5.2-inch display with a Snapdragon 808, and expected to have and Android M OS, making it seem to be an updated version of the current Nexus 5.
Android Pit reports that there may not be any indication on how much the Nexus 5 2015 will cost, there should be something to distinguish two different-sized models Google is expected to release.
There have also been reports of Huawei and Google working on an official Chinese version of the Google Play that will allow both, as well as third-party developers, to publish games and applications in China.
With the communist country known for being not too fond of western stores, the cooperation between Google, Huawei, and the Chinese government is expected to be a big deal.
The benchmarking score from AnTuTu is the latest indicator of the Nexus 5 2015's performance, but until more details are released, it is expected that the rumors should be taken with a grain of salt, and fans may end up disappointed.
Do you think that the Nexus 5 2015 could give Samsung a run for its money?
