Remember when Ariana Grande forgot that she's a star and started licking doughnuts and putting them back in the display rack, saying how much she hates America?
Well apparently, her fans support her and her doughnut-licking habits by doing the same with the sugary confectionaries.
While E! News said that this kind of behavior worked well for Katniss in her "The Hunger Games" war cry. "if she licks, we all lick" is not exactly the kind of cry you'd want from your fans and supporters because, well, human decency.
Ari's fans are now all over Twitter and Instagram, posting photos of themselves "licking" doughnut emojis to support the singer who claimed that she wanted her fans to die.
Ari also expressed hate on America on the most American of days: the 4th of July. And yes, of course, there's a hashtag to go with it: #LickDonutsWithAri, because why not?
While the doughnut-licking trend is on the rise, USA Today reported that this is not exactly the only ridiculous trend in social media history. The magazine mentioned a few in the past, including the Kylie Jenner Lip Challenge, Planking, and even Owling (we wonder what Hedwig has to say about that).
The donutgate scandal seems like old news by now and Ari has already issued two apologies for it, but it seems that the trend just won't stop.
The former Nickelodeon star admitted in her second apology video that she "just wanted to make a video to apologize again for the whole doughnut fiasco and craziness because I feel like the apology I posted, I was...I like kind of missed my opportunity to actually sincerely apologize and express how I was feeling because I was too busy preaching about my issues with the food industry, which is, like, not, I feel like, relative."
She continued, "I was so disgusted with myself. I, like, shoved my face in a pillow and wanted to disappear. But instead of that I'm gonna come forward and own up to what I did and take responsibility and say I'm sorry because I reacted in a way that I feel like wasn't necessary, to say the least, but also just wasn't me at all."
Ariana hasn't responded to the bizarre trend yet, according to Seventeen Magazine.
If the pop star admitted to being disgusted by her own antics, then her fans really should reconsider their show of solidarity, like, maybe agree that doughnuts are for eating, not licking.
