There have been rumors about a new model Nintendo - the NX - arriving in 2016.
However, according to Stack.com, there is very little that fans know about the highly anticipated console.
Initially rumored to arrive as early as June or July next year, the company's plans to place orders for February or March will give a short turnaround, adding doubt that the Nintendo will be releasing the next generation console so soon.
The death of Satoru Iwata also pushes the limits for the company.
During his time at Nintendo, the visionary leader was the one who brought games to a wider audience with the release of the Nintendo DS and Wii.
He also oversaw one of the most successful periods in the company's history by ensuring that games don't just entertain, but can make you fitter and smarter as well.
Iwata brought about the change, who once said that he believed in gaming.
Ars Technica reported that the president once said, "On my business card, I am a corporate president. In my mind, I am a game developer. But in my heart, I am a gamer."
Perhaps this mindset is what made Iwata so successful in the company.
Now that he has passed, the future for Nintendo has become questionable, as Iwata's player-centric signature direction is all over Nintendo products - a feat made possible thanks to his semi-regular "Iwata Asks" panels and Direct streams that made him not just the leader, but the public face of the company.
Before his death, Nintendo was in hot water - a poor showing at E3 has had inventors and analysts calling for the company to move into the smartphone market, something that Nintendo did not make a move for, but led them to commit to making mobile games instead.
His death could further push the release of the NX, although Stack reported that the latest console from Nintendo will avoid competing with against the PS4.
The report was made before Iwata's death, however, and there is no telling what is going to happen it now, considering Iwata's passing.
iDigital Times said that the NX needs to be a hit for Nintendo to go on. While the company isn't really losing money, they have been scraping by, and NX is a big risk.
If it doesn't succeed, Nintendo, as fans know it, will change forever, and Iwata's legacy may fall behind, forgotten.
Do you think Nintendo will be okay without its visionary leader?
