Manny Pacquiao is looking to set up a meeting with Floyd Mayweather Jr. and his camp about a possible mega-buck showdown next year.
Pacquiao told Spin.ph that he is set to have a family vacation in the United States late this month and the former pound-for-pound king revealed that one of his possible agendas is a meeting with Mayweather or his representatives.
"We have to talk first. If we can come to an agreement, then we'll talk about the fight," Pacquiao said.
The Pacquiao vs. Mayweather fight is expected to break all boxing records, but the blockbuster showdown has been shelved several times before due to debates in fight purse splits and other terms such as the mandatory drug testing, which were turned down by Pacquiao before.
When asked if he is confident that the fight the boxing fans are waiting for will finally be staged next year, Pacquiao said: "We still don't know, but there's a chance."
Mayweather recently mentioned Pacquiao as one of his possible opponents, saying "If it's Manny Pacquiao, it's Manny Pacquiao" during an interview with Fighthype.
However, the flamboyant American took a swipe at Pacquiao's record in his last three fights, saying that his recent victory against Brandon Rios is not enough to overshadow his two-straight defeats against Timothy Bradley and Juan Manuel Marquez.
"You know, like I said before, they were just talking about this guy needs to retire after he got knocked out. Now he comes and gets a win over Brandon Rios and they say, you know what, Pacquiao is back. You're going to get that in the sport of boxing. Like I said before, he's 1 and 2 in his last 3 fights, and my last 45 fights, I'm 45 and 0," Mayweather said.
Mayweather, the reigning WBC light middleweight, also belittled the recent pay-per-view numbers of Pacquiao, whose fight with Rios generated less than 500,000 PPV buys, which is way lower than the 2.2 million PPV buys generated by Mayweather's bout against Saul Alvarez in September.
"You look at his pay-per-view numbers. Do your homework! You know, first you got to do your homework. Look at my pay-per-view numbers, look at his pay-per-view numbers, and then you tell me what you come up with," Mayweather pointed out.
