The latest "NCIS" focused on an extra-creepy murder and the reemergence of old flames.
In "Devil's Triad," a marine is murdered by a man dressed as a clown. The NCIS team traces the victim's calls to a hotel room. When the team gets to the hotel room, they're surprised to see Diane (Melinda McGraw) and Fornell (Joe Spano). Diane reveals that she also has an (almost) ex-boyfriend, who didn't pick up the phone when she called to break things off with him.
It turns out the victim had Diane's boyfriend's phone on him, which makes him the number one suspect in the case. The search begins for Eddie, Diane's boyfriend.
The team locates Eddie's car in a long-term parking space at the airport. There is a clown nose in his trunk along with blood from four separate victims.
They track Eddie to a storage unit, where Fornell punches him for sleeping with his ex-wife.
At the station, Eddie reveals the truth: his real name isn't Eddie at all. He drops the accent he was putting on and says he is a special agent who is working undercover for the Secret Service. The real guy they are looking for is named Elijah.
Elijah finds out the police have "Eddie," so he kidnaps Fornell's daughter, Emily, to hold for ransom. Elijah requests that Bishop (Emily Wickersham) bring him the money. Bishop is able to save Emily, but Emily is really the one who saves the day.
While she was kidnapped, she slipped her watch, which has Bluetooth, into Elijah's bag. The bluetooth allows the team to track down the clown killer.
At the end of the episode, Fornell and Diane go to Gibbs (Mark Harmon) to ask for his blessing before they take another go at their relationship.
On the next episode, "Homesick," "A mysterious illness strikes dozens of children from military families. Gibbs and the team investigate the cause, while Abby and Jimmy partner with the Naval Medical Research Center to determine the strain of the outbreak."
In other "NCIS" news, "NCIS" showrunner Gary Glasberg and series star Mark Harmon are creating a CBS pilot in 2014 for "NCIS: New Orleans." The four lead characters are currently being cast, and the creators are open to actors of "any ethnicity" playing the characters.
The characters are as follows, according to TVLine:
-Agent Pride, a male in his 50s who is "charismatic and full of life" yet "stubborn, direct" and "no-nonsense."
-Agent LaSalle, a "muscular," "devilish" and "charming" 30-something man who was born and raised in Louisiana and is a former Sheriff's deputy.
-Agent Brody, a 30-something female from the Great Lakes office who is very intelligent and has "Grace Kelly-like class, pomp and circumstance."
-Dr. Wade, a college-football nut who is "outspoken," "eccentric" and "doesn't give herself enough credit for still being quite a looker."
Watch the promo for "NCIS'" "Homesick" below, which airs Tuesday, Dec. 17 at 8 p.m on CBS.
