The upcoming Samsung Galaxy Note 5 may do away with the usual SD card slot that usually comes with the series, recent reports revealed.
Business Insider said the new leaks of the phone show that the device will be made of glass and metal, suggesting that it will scrap the SD card slot or a replaceable battery from its features.
The same report added that this could make Samsung fans furious because they will not be given the chance to swap their battery or change their back covers.
Expected to arrive by mid-August, the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 is set to go against the upcoming Apple releases especially the iPhone 6 Plus scheduled to come out by September this year.
"Samsung has been releasing large-screen phones in the US for the past several years since 2011, and last year Apple released its first larger iPhone to compete with Samsung in that space," added Business Insider.
A similar Forbes report noted that an earlier release for Samsung would avoid it having to compete with Apple for attention. It added that the launch of the Galaxy Note 5 will happen in a major city in the United States though it failed to disclose what place it will be.
Among the rumoured features of the device are a 5.7-inch Quad HD display, a 4100 mAh battery, an Exynos 7422 processor, a developed fingerprint sensor and bottom edge speakers.
According to Day Herald, recent online leaks of the handset suggest that it could look similar to the S6 and S6 Edge but with two cut-outs located on the bottom of the cases believed to house the S Pen.
The phone, which is said to cost around $1000, is also believed to come with a volcano-shaped camera unit at the back like that of the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge.
With its much anticipated release, the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 is claimed to have either a 2K or a 4K Super AMOLED flat display, but there is still a possibility that the company could switch to an OLED display, according to ValueWalk.
The phablet is expected to come in 3 variants — 16GB, 32GB and 64GB — with expandable storage of up to 128GB. It is also said to have an octa-core processor at 2.9Ghz with a 64-bit architecture for the Exynos variant and a quad-core Snapdragon 808 variant.
Another great feature of the phone is that it is expected to be dust-, scratch- and water-resistant. A finger print sensor and retina scanner are also expected to come with the phone, as well as the Knox Security mode and a heart rate sensor.
