Microsoft Office 2016 Released for Mac: Features, Changes & Everything You Need to Know

Microsoft has officially launched the Office 2016 for Mac with loads of features and changes for fans and users.

According to Forbes, the last similar release for Mac was the Office 2011; so now, this new offering has brought about recent versions of Word, Excel and PowerPoint which is "available in 139 countries and 16 languages."

The same report added that the Office 2016 also comes with Retina display support, a Full Screen view mode, task panes, cloud integration and Multi-Touch gestures.

The Office website noted that this new technology is now "cloud-connected" to enable users to access their recently opened documents on other devices and pick up where they left off.

"New, built-in document sharing tools make it easy to invite teammates to work on a document together. When sharing documents, you won't have to worry about losing content or formatting, as Office for Mac offers unparalleled compatibility with Office on PCs, tablets, phones and online," added the official website.

NDTV Gadgets notes that this new Windows version for the Mac is very similar to the existing one used by other users.

It also reportedly introduced a number of keyboard shortcuts used on Windows, which make it easier for people to do navigate on a Mac even if they are Windows-oriented users.

"The 'Recent' button will get you the files you recently opened, regardless of the device (at least if you use OneDrive). And with one click in Word, you can jump to where you left off on the previous device," added NDTV Gadgets.

A "Recommended Charts" feature was also made part of spreadsheets where chart previews of various data sets are shown for people to choose from.

For PowerPoint, Forbes said that the update includes an improved Presenter View where you can find the current slide, next slide, speaker notes and timer.

"The audience will only see your current slide on the bigger screen, but the Presenter View will help you stay prepared as you give the presentation. And there is a new animation pane that helps you design and fine-tune the animations and slide transitions," noted Forbes.

On Thursday, Office 2016 became available for Office 365 users, who have active subscriptions and access to Office applications on Mac, Windows iOS and Android devices.

For people wanting to know how they can get Office 2016, the Office website said that Mac users can just browse their account page then sign in and follow the installation instructions.

"If you have Office 365 through your organization, go to portal.office.com/OLS/MySoftware.aspx," added the Office website.

With this new Microsoft Office for Mac, users are now hoping that their Office experience in creating documents and other important works will be better and improved.
