The next member of the Samsung Galaxy A-family could grace the mid-range market sooner than expected.

GSM Arena claimed that the Galaxy A8 has been spotted in India for testing purposes ahead of the smartphone's launch. To further pump up fans, several renders of the Galaxy A8 has surfaced.

Listed below are the rumored specs and features of the handset. It should be noted that this isn't official yet and Samsung still has to issue an announcement.

Design & Display

A separate report from GSM Arena wrote that alleged live images of the Galaxy A8 and a hands-on video previously surfaced online. The photos of the device present a combination of the Galaxy S6's design and the A-series. The LTE-enabled handset also sports a pearl white finish much like the other models of the A-series.

On July 9, tech tipster @OnLeaks, whose real name is Steve Hemmerstoffer, also leaked the rumored appearance of the handset. If the leaked image is legitimate, then the Galaxy A8 bears resemblance to the Galaxy S6 when it comes to the metal frame and rounded edges. The back of the Galaxy A8 also features a subtle curve for comfortable handling.

The Galaxy A8 is said to come in at 5.7 inches with a 1080p Super AMOLED touchscreen, GSM Arena reported.

Processor, Operating System, Memory Storage, & Camera

The handset is expected to run using Android 5.1 Lollipop and will be powered by the mid-range Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 chipset, which comes with an octa-core Cortex-A53 CPU, GSM Arena noted. In addition, a 3,050 mAh battery is said to run the device, while a fingerprint scanner will be included in the Home button so users can unlock the device easily.

GSM Arena added that the Galaxy A8 will have a 16-megapixel main camera with f/1.9 lens and a 5 MP front facing shooter. The handset is expected to be equipped with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of built-in storage space.

Release Date & Price

As per Techno Buffalo, there are expectations that the Galaxy A8 will be finally unveiled on July 15, and could go on sale in China for the price of $485. A U.S. launch for the device is still undetermined.

In Vietnam, the Galaxy A8 is already listed in one retail store, while Malaysia has already leaked a promotional leaflet indicating the recommended price of the smartphone, GSM Arena wrote. Vietnam stores are expected to sell the handset at VND 10,990,000, while Malaysian retailers will probably go for MYR 1,888. Both of those prices translate into roughly $500.
