The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past has been one of the biggest hits for the Nintendo 3DS in 2013. In celebration of one of the best Nintendo titles of the year, here is a quick guide to some of the gameplay secrets within A Link to the Past.

One of the most interesting new features for the game is the ability to create a Shadow Link that other players can fight using the 3DS Streetpass. Beating a Shadow Link will give players a ton of Rupees, but if a player beats your Shadow Link they will get the money instead. The best way to make your Shadow Link worth 999 Rupees is to upgrade the Master Sword fully, and to equip two additional upgraded weapons for the character. Collecting all 100 Maiamais to get the Great Spin Attack is also a must, as is equipping the red tunic.

Finally, some basic things like finding all the heart pieces and heart containers in the game and equipping some blue potions will help the Shadow Link be unstoppable. One easy trick to remember when fighting a Shadow Link: save immediately beforehand, and if you lose, you can turn off the 3DS and get the chance to fight the opponent again.

If you're looking for more ways to earn Rupees in the game, there are several ways to get some extra cash. If a painting has Rupees in it, merging into the wall and going into the painting will give a player a Rupee for their trouble. Players can also farm enemies to earn Rupees quickly. One of the best spots to do so is around Hyrule Castle after Link has found the Master Sword. Taking on all the Red Knights in the area will give a player many Rupees, and then entering and exiting the castle will cause them all to respawn.

Finally, the Treacherous Tower found in Lorule has many items that players can earn by beating certain levels. Beating five levels will give you Rupees, and beating 15 levels will give you Rupees and a Heart Piece. Beating 50 levels will give you the Super Lamp in addition to Rupees. Finally, beating the 50 levels again will earn you a Super Bug Net and Rupees.
