Bella Thorne Takes on Body Shaming
In an interview with Perez Hilton, Thorne, 17, called out body shamers and urged people to be confident about their physical appearances.
"It's interesting that in LA it [showing skin] is so frowned upon and I think that's wrong," the actress explained, as reported by Hollywire. "I just never got it being raised in a household where we never body shamed anybody... We don't take offense to it, maybe it's just a Miami thing."
Thorne, who starred in this year's "The Duff," advised others "to post what you want" on social media. "If you're confident and comfortable about your body beauty then go ahead and show it to the world, because you have the freedom to do so," she continued, as quoted by Hollywire.
Thorne is set to star alongside Patrick Schwarzenegger as the leads of "The Midnight Sun," a young adult adaptation film based on a 2006 Japanese movie that centers on 17-year-old Katie, a girl who suffers from a disease that makes her skin highly sensitive to sunlight that even small exposures could be fatal, Deadline reported.
Scott Speer is directing "The Midnight Sun" from a script written by Eric Kirsten, Deadline added.
Thorne recently appeared on MTV's TV adaptation of "Scream," Mirror wrote. The young actress also has roles in two upcoming horror films: "Home Invasion" and "Amityville: The Reawakening," Detroit Free Press reported.
