Netflix would be introducing Elodie Yung as the fan-favorite character 'Elektra,' another major player for the sophomore season of the hit TV series "Marvel's Daredevil" to be released in 2016.

Jeph Loeb, Marvel Television head and "Daredevil" executive producer, exclusively revealed Yung's inclusion to the ever-growing cast of the popular Marvel spinoff on Marvel.com.

"After a worldwide search, we found in Elodie the perfect actress to embody both Elektra's impressive and deadly physicality, as well as her psychological complexity," Loeb said.

Loeb also believes that adding that the new character and pairing it with Charlie Cox's Matt Murdock would surely "bring one of the most beloved and tumultuous comic book relationships to life with all the accompanying sparks and spectacular action sequences the show is known for."

According to Marvel, Elektra Natchios is a mysterious woman from Daredevil's past who may come in a more "dangerous and exotic" way than the average ex-girlfriend.

Yung, a 34-year-old actress of French descent, had also portrayed electrifying characters in some of Hollywood's blockbuster hits as Miriam Wu in "The Girl with a Dragon Tattoo" and Jinx in "G.I. Joe: Retaliation."

Comic Book Resources revealed that Yung would also be playing Hathor in the flick "Gods of Egypt" due in theaters next year.

Elektra was first portrayed by Jennifer Garner twice: in the Ben Affleck-starring "Daredevil" movie back in 2003 and the solo film "Elektra" released in 2005.

Aside from the martial artist character, the Punishe (played by "The Walking Dead" star Jon Bernthal) would also be added to into the next season of the series.

The series revolves around the famous Marvel sight-impaired lawyer-turned-vigilante who calls himself the Daredevil by night but goes by Matthew Michael "Matt" Murdock in the morning, Wired UK explained.

When Murdock was a child, his sight was taken from him because of an accident while he was trying to save an old man from being crushed by a truck carrying radioactive chemicals. As a result, Murdock has heightened senses that exceed human capacities and additional powers like 'radar sense.'

The series was made by partners Marvel Television and ABC Studios, and is exclusively shown in Netflix.

Doug Petrie and Marco Ramirez would be filling in as the showrunners for this season after Steven DeKnight left the job.
