With the Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 expected to come out this year, users of Galaxy Tab S might be wondering if they should upgrade or stick with their current device.

We pit Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 against its predecessor and see if the upcoming Tablet is worth the purchase/upgrade.

Display and Size

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 will have two screen size variants - an 8-inch and 9.7-inch display, according to Venture Capital Post. Meanwhile, the Tab S comes in 10.5-inch and 8.4-inch variants.

User preferences come into play as the new Galaxy Tab S2 focuses more on portability. It is also worth noting that it will be 5.4 millimeters thin and will be a lot lighter than the Tab S. Both device will feature a Super AMOLED screen.

Processor

Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 is expected to have an extra efficient 64-bit Exynos chipset, 3GB RAM, and a 32 GB built-in storage capacity that can still be expanded using a Micro-SD card. The Galaxy Tab S 2.3 CPU is comprised of  a Krait 400 SoC processor or a 1.9Ghz A15 Quad and 1.3Ghz A7 Quad octa-core. It offers 3GB of RAM, and 16/32GB Memory that can also be upgraded using a Micro-SD card up to 128GB.

Design

While the Galaxy Tab S is made of plastic, the Galaxy Tab S2's exterior will reportedly be made of metallic frame, which has been the norm for latest Samusng phones like the Galaxy S6. It could possibly be Samsung's third device, after the Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 Edge, to be made of metal.

With limited information ron the Galaxy Tab S2, it seems like there is little to look forward to aside from the decent specs upgrade and the metallic frame design.

Master Herald reported that Samsung's upcoming flagship tablet is projected to go head-on against Apple's projected release date for a new tablet. Samsung is reportedly releaseing the Galaxy Tab S2 three months ahead of Apple's iPad Air 3.

The website also reported that the Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 is already being tested by the Federal Communications Commission to certify conformation to safety standards for an electronic product. This means the device is 100 percent complete and Samsung gadget enthusiasts can expect the device to hit retail stores soon.
