Over the weekend, "Zero Escape 3" was announced at the Anime Expo 2015 and is expected to arrive by summer of 2016 on the PS Vita and Nintendo 3DS.

Aksys Games recently announced that some characters of the game may return and may also include "voiced cinematics, multiple endings and Japanese and English voice over options," reports VG247.

A Gematsu report details that director Kotaro Uchikoshi was responsible for the main visuals of the upcoming installment.

"I have infiltrated this panel to note for you that Zero Escape 3 has entered development," Uchikosi was quoted by Polygon as saying.

He also added that the game will have familiar faces though its subtitle is still pending.

Prior to its launch, a teaser site called 4infinity.co came out with Aksys saying that "Infinity" represented time and "4" stood for Mars which is the fourth planet in the solar system where the game is anticipated to take place.

"All of the words that appeared on the website have something to do with Zero Escape 3. They should stay up on the website for the next year so when you start playing it, you can look back and see how everything ties in," explained Gematsu.

In the game, individuals will reportedly be trapped again inside the Mars Mission Test Site where logistics of a colony on Mars will be tested. Gematsu said that gamers will be able to observe the interactions of the people and those living in the colony.

Siliconera said the game will feature a dog rumored to be one of the features that developers have been very excited about.

In the Polygon report, Danganronpa writer Kazutaka Kodaka said, "It is probably the most out-of-this-world ending so far.".

The game is the successor of the "999: Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors," which was launched in 2009 in Japan and the Zero Escape: Virtue's Last Reward three years ago.

Back in 2012, Uchikoshi confirmed that he was working on the third instalment of the game series but had to put the project on hold last February 2014 since the first two titles of the series reportedly did not sell well.

Now, it seems like there has been enough support for the Zero Escape franchise with the introduction of the upcoming game.

In reviewing the previous game installment, Eurogamer contributor Chris Schilling said the first instalment of the game was amusing.

"If you're in the mood for a faintly silly potboiler with a handful of cracking twists, you'll find this a thoroughly enjoyable read," Schilling explained.
