The upcoming Nexus 5 will reportedly be launched next month along with Android M 6.0, with the pairing said to be a "sure thing" soon.

According to a TechTimes source, there is still no confirmation about the new handset becoming the "standard bearer" of Google's latest mobile platform version.

The Android M, according to its official website, was released last May on the Nexus 5, Nexus 6, Nexus 9 tablet, and the Nexus Player.

It reportedly introduced "a redesigned permission model", with applications not automatically granted permissions. With its 6.0 update, the Android M is sure to bring new features to the operating system.

"The App Linking feature allows you to associate an app with a web domain you own. Based on this association, the platform can determine the default app to use to handle a particular web link and skip prompting users to select an app," according to descriptions on its website.

It also comes with auto backup for apps, and fingerprint authentication.

The fingerprint authentication could be used in a compatible device suing a fingerprint sensor.

Android Origin mentioned that the Android M also has a "Do Not Disturb mode," allowing users to schedule times when they do not want to be bothered by calls or texts.

"Again, this is something that has been in iOS for a while now and some Android users haven't had the feature unless they were using an OEM skin that had put the feature in their software (like Samsung and TouchWiz). In Android M though, this should be baked into the core OS for all Android customers to use," the Origin report said.

The Tech Times report also highlighted that it could be very possible for the Android M's final build to be incorporated in the Nexus 5 due to the timing of their expected release.

It added that the upcoming handset is based on the LG G2 with the Nexus 4 allegedly being "a modified version of the LG Optimus G."

The phone is claimed to run on Qualcomm's Snapdragon 810 and boast 3GB of RAM.

"It will come in 64 GB and 128 GB variants, and will have a 16-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel wide-angle camera in front," added TechTimes.

The phone is reportedly using "a resistant carbon fiber to build a more durable body and a fingerprint sensor placed on the back of the device" that may alter design.

The Nexus 5 is also believed to come with other features like fast charging, wireless charging, and USB Type C support.
