Director Zack Snyder recently disclosed how Wonder Woman would affect the plot of the "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" in an extensive interview with Entertainment Weekly magazine's Comin-Con edition.
"She plays a super-important part. In a lot of ways, she's the gateway drug to the rest of the Justice League," said Snyder in an interveiw with Flickering Myth. The magazine published a first look of the heroine with the two embattled members of the superhero group.
According to the report, entering Wonder Woman into a film that features Batman and Superman is a way of easing the two into the upcoming "Justice League-Part 1" film due in theaters in November 2017 while the second installment has been scheduled for a 2019 release.
"The 'gateway drug' comment seems to suggest what a lot of rumours have suggested that Wonder Woman is what brings the two heroes - and eventually the JLA - together," the report explained.
The report also revealed that "Dawn of Justice" screenwriter Chris Terrio already finished the script of the much-awaited two-part Justice League film, proving once more that DC is set on building the DC Extended UniverseTM franchise.
Meanwhile, a character portrait from the magazine described Wonder Woman, portrayed by Gal Gadot, as "a fashion model in a revealing leather outfit," sporting a serious look while gripping her sword.
In a separate report by Entertainment Weekly, the 30-year-old Israeli actress talked about how she got nervous during her casting session with Snyder because of how big the role was.
"There are so many expectations for this character, it's impossible not to be a little nervous about it," she said. She added that though she indeed felt weary of the iconic character she would be portraying, she would still be enjoying every bit of it.
"I love doing the swordplay stuff. It's another skill to add to my collection," the former Miss Israel and "Fast and Furious" star stated. She said she is still working on using Wonder Woman's signature weapon: the lasso.
Fans of DC comics would be seeing Gadot in action as "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" hits theaters by March 25, 2016.
Aside from Gadot, the star-studded cast would include "Man of Steel" actor Henry Cavill as Superman; Ben Affleck as Batman; "Game of Thrones" star Jason Momoa as Aquaman; Amy Adams as Lois Lane; and Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor.
Other members of the cast with unconfirmed roles in the film include Holly Hunter from "The Piano," Jena Malone of "Sucker Punch," Tao Okamoto from "The Wolverine" Callan Mulvey of "300: Rise of an Empire," and Scoot McNairy of "Argo."
