Independence Day is one of the most celebrated occasions in the United States, highlighting the patriotism of Americans.
Those looking for things to do on this very special day, here some things you may want to consider!
Visit the National Mall and witness the yearly parade
Flourished with Washington DC's monuments and the US Capitol, it has already become a center of the July 4 celebration. The all-day event begins with a parade on Constitution Avenue. It ends in a spectacular fireworks display over the Washington Monument, the DC website informed.
Take note that the National Mall opens at 10 a.m. and all visitors are asked to enter through a security checkpoint. Washington DC's parade begins at 11:45 a.m. from Constitution Avenue and goes through the 7th to 17th Sts.
Watch the Washington Nationals vs the San Francisco Giants
The Washington Post suggests witnessing the Nationals host the Giants who bagged the titles in the past five World Series. "It's a solid test for the Nationals, who stand in first place in the National League East," the outlet noted.
Individuals can purchase tickets pegged from $28 to $425 based on your assigned seat. The event starts at 11:05 a.m. today.
Pay a visit to the National Museum of the American Indian for the Smithsonian Folklife Festival
Running for two long weekends around the Fourth of July, the festival celebrates the cultural differences in the area with bazaars and exhibitions of crafts and other products that highlight the talents of cultural diversity, Washington.org wrote.
The DC website noted that this celebration also has evening music and dance performances, which focus on the cultural issues and differences of the people. This year, the theme of the program will be Peru, running on July 4 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Be awed with the Fourth of July Fireworks
According to Washington.org, the fireworks show at the National Mall starts at 9 p.m. -- people should start gathering around its vicinity hours before to get the best view of the celebration. You can also go for a boat cruise or hotel roofdeck chill to get the best view.
Treat your family to a daytime fireworks
WJLA explained that this activity is best for kids and adults alike, since it is celebrated during the day. It begins at 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at George Washington's Mount Vernon. Admission is priced from $9 to $18. Here, you can witness military reenactments and a wreath-laying ceremony, among others.
