The rivalry between Samsung and Apple intensifies as a new tablet for Samsung, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S2, will come out to counter Apple's iPad Air 2 and it is expected to arrive this July.

In a report by Master Herald, Samsung's flagship tablet, Samsung Galaxy Tab S2, is expected to go toe-to-toe against the Apple IPad Air 2. But it looks like they will get a slight edge as Samsung plans to release the said device three months earlier than the successor of iPad Air 2, which is the iPad Air 3 and the iPad Mini 4.

Moreover, the website stated that the Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 will feature the same specifications as the iPad Air 2. To be specific, it will also have two screen size variants — an 8-inch and 9.7-inch display much like its Apple tablet counterparts.

The website noted that the device is already undergoing tests by Federal Communications Commission to ensure that it meets the standards as an electronic product. Thus, it is already fully functional and it might hit gadget retailers in the the United States soon.

Pitting it against its predecessor, Samsung Galaxy Tab S2's exterior is speculated to be made of metallic frame, which is now the newest trend when it comes to Samsung's newer devices. It is worth noting that this was first applied on the Samsung Galaxy S6 and the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge four months ago.

As mentioned a while ago, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 8-inch version will go head-to-head against the 7.9-inch Apple iPad mini 3, while the larger version of the S2 (9.7-inch) is set to compete with Apple's 9.7-inch iPad Air 2.

But what sets the new Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 apart from its rival Apple iPad Air 2 is that it's lighter and even thinner. The S2 is as slim as 5.4 millimeters, while the iPad Air 2 is only thinner by 6.1 millimeters.

As for the Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 specs, it is projected to have a powerful 64-bit Exynos chipset, speedy 3GB of RAM and a 32 GB built-in storage capacity that can be further magnified by inserting a micro-SD card.

Master Herald further added that Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 will probably include the same features seen on Samsung Galaxy S6, starting with the metallic frame.

However, readers should take this with a grain of salt as Samsung has yet to make an official statement with regards to the tablet's specs.
