If you’re a “South Park” fan, or a Kanye West fan for that matter, you definitely remember the famous “Fish Sticks” episode. It’s a clear satire of Kanye’s absurdity that also recognizes creative genius, as his avatar repeatedly refers to himself as the voice of a generation. “South Park” always flirts with the line between mockery and respect and they took a risk gunning for Kanye, but much to fans’ surprise, the episode passed without retaliation.
"'South Park' murdered me last night, and it's pretty funny. It hurts my feelings, but what can you expect from 'South Park?'" he wrote. "I actually have been working on my ego. ... Having the crazy ego is played out at this point in my life and career. I used to use it to build up my esteem when nobody believed in me. Now that people do believe and support my music, the best response is 'Thank you' instead of 'I told you so!'”
Well last night, “South Park” took another stab at good ol’ humble Kanye. In the episode, Kanye lectures a class about rumors concerning him and Kim Kardashian, reiterating again and again that she is not a “hobbit.” But after speaking to South Park Elementary, interrupting Pope Francis’ acceptance speech at the Time Person of the Year ceremony, and making a “Bound 2” parody video to convince the world that she’s not a hobbit, the overbearing evidence weighs too heavy on his psyche and forces him to accept the hard truth. However, it all ends happily as he admits his unwavering love for Kardashian, despite his startling discovery. Let’s all hope he takes it as kindly this time around.
