NBCUniversal is cutting its ties with Donald Trump following the Republican presidential candidate's racist remarks against Mexican immigrants.

In the television network's official statement, they indicated that "respect and dignity for all people are cornerstones" of NBC's values. The announcement also said that the network will not air the annual Miss USA and Miss Universe Pageants, which were jointly owned by NBC and Trump.

"In addition, as Mr. Trump has already indicated, he will not be participating in 'The Apprentice' on NBC," NBCUniversal further wrote.

The network's separation from Trump was backed by a Change.org petition saying that NBC was supporting "a hateful and narcissistic individual without any kind of values, both personal and business wise." Hispanic advocacy organizations, such as the National Association of Hispanic Journalists, also urged NBC to dump Trump, CNN wrote.

Following NBC's public shame regarding the issue involving Brian Williams, it's no wonder why the network dropped another controversy in the form of Trump.

According to The Wrap, Trump claimed at an event in Chicago that he was the one who ended his business deal with NBC, not the other way around.

"They did not want me to run. They wanted me to do 'The Apprentice,'" he said, as quoted by The Wrap. "And now with my statements on immigration which happen to be correct, they are going to take a different stance and that's OK. Whatever they want to do is OK with me."

Like with Univision, Trump also threatened to sue NBC, the news outlet added. Later on, Trump issued a bolder statement against the network indicating that he still stands with his comments regarding Mexican immigrants despite the overwhelming backlash.

In a lengthy post shared on his Instagram page, the 69-year-old businessman called NBC "weak and foolish" for the network's ignorance regarding the illegal immigration problems in the U.S. He also said that NBC is violating the Miss Universe/Miss USA contract the network has with him and that the issue "will be determined in court."

Trump's statement posted on Instagram mentioned NBC's disgraced anchorman as well: "Furthermore, they will stand behind lying Brian Williams, but won't stand behind people that tell it like it is, as unpleasant as that may be."

In his speech announcing his candidacy two weeks ago, Trump said that he will "build a wall" to punish Mexico for sending rapists, criminals, and drug dealers across the border. These remarks prompted Univision to end its ties with Trump.

The American Spanish language TV network said that it will no longer work with projects that are connected to the Trump Organization, NBC News reported. The Miss USA pageant, which was supposed to air on Univision on July 12, will no longer be in the network's broadcasting schedule.

Trump was angered by Univision's move and warned that he will file a lawsuit against the network for pulling out of an "ironclad" contract, USA Today wrote.
