Golden Globe Nominations 2014: '12 Years A Slave,' 'American Hustle' Lead With Most Nominations

"American Hustle" and "12 Years a Slave" came out on top with seven nominations each in the 71st annual Golden Globe Awards.

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association announced the nominees for the Golden Globes awards on Thursday morning, revealing that both films were nominated in their respective Best Picture categories, reports the LA Times. The films also earned directing nominations for Steve McQueen and David O. Russell, in addition to acting nods for Chiwetel Ejiofor, Michael Fassbender, Lupita Nyong'o, Amy Adams, Jennifer Lawrence, Christian Bale and Bradley Cooper.

For the first time, "Scandal" star Kerry Washington was nominated for a Golden Globe award, the Huffington Post reports. The actress, who plays Washington, D.C. fixer Olivia Pope in the ABC series, was nominated for Best Actress in a TV Drama Series.

The 2014 Golden Globe Awards will be hosted by Tina Fey and Amy Poehler and broadcast Sunday, Jan. 12.
