When Bungie announced the "Destiny: The Taken King" expansion pack, gamers did not take it positively as it will be priced $60 — around the same amount as the base game.

What frustrates gamers even more is that it will include the base game, and the two expansion DLCs, "Crota's End" and "Den of Wolves." Thus, this would render their previous purchases totally useless.

Also, it did not help Bungie's cause when creative director Luke Smith spoke with Eurogamer to justify the game's price.

"So, purchasers get a big, rich campaign. Fully voiced cinematics and the story of what happens when an angry alien god wages war on a solar system, all with a satisfying conclusion. You also have a new subclass to pursue and unlock. We also have a bunch of new strikes - we're not yet talking about how many - and a new raid," he said.

He further added that another major area/planet, two new PVP modes, and four PVP maps (crucible) will be added in the package. That inclusions for him justifies the $40 price tag of "Destiny: The Taken Kings."

The interviewer was not content of his answer, so he went on to details that the base game included four huge areas, while "Destiny: Taken King" will only include one major area.

"All I can do is answer that with the same thing I just gave you...," Smith said. "We're really comfortable with the value we're giving to players this autumn. I believe that once we begin to share more, players will be even more excited. And for existing players it also comes with the Founder's pack with a new Sparrow, shader and emblem."

Lastly, when Smith did not seem to get the point, the interviewer said that the frustration is coming from forcing them to purchase content that they already have before. However, Smith's response was rather appalling for fans.

Smith replied after a long pause, "It's about value. The player's assessment of the value of the content."

A day after reading the interview, Smith apologized to gamers for the unbecoming interview and added that Bungie will adjust the price of "Destiny: The Taken King" via Game Informer.

"Reading my interview with Eurogamer and imagining it came from some random developer of a game I love - that random developer looks like an Asshat. But that Asshat was me - and those words rightfully anger you. I'm sorry."

Will the fan outburst finally serve as a wake up call for Bungie? Stay tuned.
