Reports circulated yesterday that legendary folk singer Joni Mitchell is unable to speak after suffering from a brain aneurysm. Her court-appointed conservator, Leslie Morris, clarified that the leaked details are "mostly speculative".

The rumors started from an interview given by David Crosby, one of Mitchell's close friends. In the interview with the Huffington Post, Crosby said, "To my knowledge, she is not speaking yet", when asked about Mitchell's condition.

"The truth is that Joni is speaking, and she's speaking well," Morris said in the statement. "She is not walking yet, but she will be in the near future as she is undergoing daily therapies."

Morris said that Mitchell is now at home and expected to make a full recovery. According to an AP report, Morris was appointed by courts of LA when Mitchell was deemed unable to make health care decisions for herself, and did not have family members capable of taking over for her.

According to The Guardian, Mitchell was first brought to the hospital earlier this year involving an emergency situation where she was found unconscious in her Bel-Air home.

Mitchell has already lost the luster of her singing voice, largely attributed to her 61 years of heavy smoking. That and her old age placed her at risk of getting an aneurysm.

Brain aneurisms are blood-filled bulges inside an artery in the brain. These are caused by thinning of arterial walls. People who have a history of smoking and heavy alcohol consumption are among those who are at high risk.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Famer disclosed her many health issues throughout her life in the 2014 book "Joni Mitchell, In Her Own Words Conversations with Malka Marom". She recounted her lifelong battle with various chronic illnesses, including her polio diagnosis at age 8.

Mitchell mentioned that she also suffers from a very rare disease called Morgellons. Morgellons attacks the patient's nervous system causing the feeling of parasites crawling under their skin. Mitchell said that these illnesses have given her a very hard time socializing, even at the peak of her career.

Before the hospital emergency in March this year, Mitchell has lived in recluse between her Bel-Air, LA home and British Colombia.

In 2014, Joni just released a 4-disc box set entitled "Love Has Many Faces," which chronicles her long illustrious career. Mitchell has won 8 Grammy awards for her music, and was inducted in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1997.
