Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige explained how they plan to insert Spider-Man into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which poses quite a challenge after two versions of the friendly neighborhood superhero were already introduced.
With the superhero gaining such high popularity with a three-part series starring Toby McGuire and a two-film reboot starring Andrew Garfield, people have been wondering how Spider-Man would be introduced as part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, according to Cinema Blend.
Speculations are about to come to an end after Feige revealed specific details to Zap2it.com about Marvel's version of the Spider-Man standalone film due in theaters on July 28, 2017.
"The biggest thing ... is that it takes place in this universe. It's the first time that you'll be able to see Spider-Man like he was in the comics, as a very different type of hero when compared to the other heroes in the universe," he explained.
He noted that a massive change would be affecting the image of Peter Parker who would not be the only superhero in town.
"Up until this point in the other Spidey films -- some of which are some of the best superhero movies ever made -- he was the only hero, and now he's not. Now he's a kid in Queens with these powers and has other [superheroes] to look to," he added.
Furthermore, Zap2it.com revealed that the newest Spider-Man version would enter the MCU in the Marvel film "Captain America: Civil War," which would hit theaters on May 6, 2016.
Here's a teaser of the film as revealed in Comic-con:
However, the report declared that Spider-Man, unlike in the other versions, would not have an origin story this time, with Feige explaining further that Peter Parker would be portrayed as he was described in the original comics by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko.
Of course, what would a hero be without a foe?
While there have been no specifics revealed on the villains that would stand against Tom Holland's version of the web-slinger, a report from Cinema Blend revealed some clues as to which among the long list of villains would Marvel and the director would choose to include in the new Spidey film.
"Right now we're interested in seeing villains we haven't seen before," Feige hinted.
This means fans should expect none of the cream of the crop Spider-Man foes such as the Venom, Sandman, Dr. Octopus and even the Green Goblin who had several identities in the first two movie versions of the hero.
