The end of the first season left fans with a lot of questions, but fret not, "The Flash" will be back for another year of superhero adventures, sooner than you think.
The CW has announced that Barry Allen and the rest of the gang from Central City will be back for its second season on October 6 at 8 p.m..
In case you forgot what happened at the end of last season, it involved time travel, the death of an unlikely character, the revelation of an unlikely hero, and a wormhole. A wormhole that Barry raced up to neutralize before it consumes all of Central City (and the rest of the world) except that... It faded to black, and fans will have to wait another few months before they know what happens next.
Here are some things to look forward to next season:
1) Barry will become more confident of his powers, thereby resembling more of the Flash from the comic books, at least, that's what lead star Grant Gustin hopes for his character, as noted by Cinema Blend. While he obviously still has a lot to learn, a year of crime-fighting under his belt should make him more confident of the hero that he is. Character development is something that should be apparent as the series goes on, don't you think?
2) Multiple timelines will be explored the next season. While we already saw a few - the original one with Eobard Thawne, the one where Harrison Wells / Eobard killed Cisco, the one where Barry tried to save his mother - chances are that we will see multiple timelines in the second season. If you caught the easter egg from Barry's time travel in that last episode, it was a reference to Jay Garrick, the Flash that lived on Earth-Two.
3) When Cisco found out that he was also affected by the particle accelerator, it seems that he was still in denial, but ultimately, he will develop into a new superhero, as noted in a report by Inquisitr. Bonus: Danielle Panabaker, who plays Caitlyn Snow, may also appear as Killer Frost.
4) Cisco as the Vibe will not be the only new superhero on the show. Although Firestorm's powers were apparent in the first season, Robbie Amell and Victor Garber will have a more impactful role as a hero in season 2.
5) The Flash is not one to hold out on villains, with some of the iconic ones already shown in the first season. This trend will continue on and more villains are expected, including The Thinker and the Mirror Master.
No trailer has officially been released, but check out this video, a lot of spoilers can be found here:
