Marvel fans can finally put a face to replace Andrew Garfield as Spider-Man, and he's going to be a much younger dude.

English actor Tom Holland will don the mask of the iconic superhero, announced Marvel. The 19-year-old already previously starred in a 2012 tsunami drama with Naomi Watts and Ewan McGregor in "The Impossible."

He also appeared in the West End production of "Billy Elliot the Musical" as Billy's best friend, Michael, from 2008 to 2010, before he landed the role of Lucas for "The Impossible," and according to Entertainment Weekly, in December, he will appear alongside Chris Hemsworth in the upcoming Ron Howard film "In the Hear of the Sea."

Amy Pascal of Sony Pictures Entertainment said about Holland's casting: "Sony, Marvel, Kevin [Feige] and I all knew that for Peter Parker, we had to find a vibrant, talented young actor capable of embodying one of the most well-known characters in the world. With Tom, we've found the perfect actor to bring Spider-Man's story into the Marvel Cinematic Universe."

Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige also added in the statement, "As with James Gunn, Joss Whedon, and the Russo brothers, we love finding new and exciting voices to bring these characters to life. We spent a lot of time with Jon [Watts] and find his take and work inspiring."

While a standalone Spider-Man film is set to hit theaters in 2017, Holland is already expected to make his first appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe next year for "Captain America: Civil War."

Tom was said to be selected after a grueling worldwide casting search before he landed the role of Peter Parker, and Tom Rothman, chairman of Sony Pictures Motion Pictures Groups, was especially taken with the young actor's performance, saying that "We saw many terrific young actors, but Tom's screen tests were special."

Holland bested five other teenage actors for the role, namely, Charlie Rowe, Judah Lewis, Matthew Lintz, Charlie Plummer and Asa Butterfield, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Butterfield, star of "Hugo" and the more recent "Ender's Game," was initially rumored to be the frontrunner for the part.

Walt Disney Co's Marvel Studios will be co-producing the film with Sony as agreed upon last February. From then on, Reuters noted that the web-slinging hero will appear in the Marvel Films with fellow Marvel characters including Iron Man, Captain America, and Thor, who may or may not make appearances in future "Spider-Man" films as well.
