The Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update has arrived for the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge. It is already available for download on Wednesday.

GottaBeMobile said there are still no links provided on the changelogs but noted that this is "ready to roll out" for the mentioned devices.

"The update to Android 5.1.1 for both new Galaxy S6 devices is available today as an over the air update, as well as being available for manual download and installation via Samsung Kies," added the same report.

Users of the handsets could install the update by going to their phones' Settings > About Phone > Check for updates in order to have the Android  5.1.1 Lollipop running.

But there's a catch here since GottaBeMobile explained that not all users can download the update right away as some could have the download available by next week.

Meanwhile, in a similar development, owners of a T-Mobile Galaxy S5 have reportedly started receiving the latest Android 5.1.1 last June 22. This was a bit surprising to the users of the phone since they expected that they will receive the update later than those using Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge.

According to DroidLife, the update to the Samsung Galaxy S5 added a new anti-theft feature which prompts the user of the phone to login to the registered Google account on the phone for security purposes. The same report said that the other improvements had to do with stability and bug fixes which required 695MB of space from the handsets.

On the other hand, a WCCF Tech report mentioned that the Samsung Galaxy S7 will be released during the second half of this year. It added that this tentative date is two to three months ahead of the original schedule. If this will be the case, there will be two Galaxy S smartphones launched this year alone, which is a first for Samsung.

"Although taken that we are still in the year 2015, the architecture [of the phone] will still remain at 14 nm FinFET," added the same report.

For its specifications, Trusted Reviews said that the S7 could have Exynos processors, though this is still debatable. It will reportedly have 4 GB RAM for faster mobile experience and a 20 MP camera sensor.

igalaxyS7samsung added that the upcoming device could feature a super fast charging battery which has a charging time of five minutes. Other features of the Galaxy S7 include 30 MP ultra low-light sensitivity sensor, an ultrafast fingerprint detective sensor and a mini projector. It is expected to cost around $999.

These recent improvements to the Galaxy S series prove that the line of phone still has a lot of potential to improve and develop in terms of performance, design and security.
