Finally, the studio that brought gamers "The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt" is ready to unleash their new AAA game, "Cyberpunk 2077," a few years from now.

With "The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt" fully operational for PC, PS4, and Xbox One, CD Projekt co-founder Marcin Iwinski spoke with IGN to relay the good news about "Cyberpunk 2077." He said that some of the developers that worked on "Witcher 3" are finally moving on to "Cyberpunk 2077".

"The core team is working The Witcher 3′s expansions, but more and more people are moving over onto Cyberpunk," he said.

Asked about the "Cyberpunk 2077" release date, Iwinski did not give a specific time frame. Instead, he stated that gamers will get to know more about "Cyberpunk 2077" once CD Projeckt RED has a clear picture of its launch.

Furthermore, IGN suggested in another report that the "Cyberpunk 2077" release date might be set in 2017. CD Projekt RED confirmed that 2016 will remain as the "year of The Witcher," thus, fans can expect more updates and DLCs from their flagship game.

Iwinski also said that CD Projekt RED is excited about the game's immense potential, noting that the game's first cinematic trailer received a very warm reception from gamers.

"We released the Cyberpunk teaser trailer because we wanted to see how gamers felt about it. We were super excited about the project internally, but what if it wasn't the right thing [for us]? But the response has been incredible. Now it's just up to us to deliver. We're hard at work on it," Iwinski said.

He also explained why CD Project RED went on a different direction with "Cyberpunk 2077," which is a dystopian futuristic world that will feature guns as the main weapons.

"You can craft swords for 12 years, but you might get burnt out," Iwinski said in a Bleeding Cool report, referring to "The Witcher" franchise. "People might want to leave and go work on something else. We're excited to switch to guns. We intended to keep [the team] energized with Cyberpunk. The core team is working The Witcher 3's expansions, but more and more people are moving over onto Cyberpunk."

Lastly, Iwinski said that they will use Bethesda's strategy with "Fallout 4" in terms of announcing the game's release date.

"We're impressed with Fallout 4's rollout. They came on stage and said 'It's here, it's real, and it's coming out on this date. We're going to do something similar. We're going to wait [to reveal the game] until we can show off a very meaningful piece of it," Iwinski teased.

CD Projekt RED announced the development of "Cyberpunk 2077" in May 2012 and launched the game's first cinematic trailer in Jan. 2013. Watch it below.
