DC's slate of movies for the upcoming years is starting to take shape, and "Suicide Squad" director David Ayer has been keeping fans on their toes with his intriguing social media posts.

Recently, there have been claims that one of the surprises of the film for fans may involve a certain former "Game of Thrones" actor.

According to Heroic Hollywood, there are rumors that Jason Momoa's Aquaman may be making an appearance in "Suicide Squad," although his storyline may not be that much different from "Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice." Aquaman, as reported, is being held prisoner and is being studied and tested on by Amanda Waller, captured after he fought a mutated shark. The mutated shark was referred to as "King of Sharks," which could mean that a major villain is going to make the story more interesting. King Shark is an iconic DC villain with a long back story.

If this is the case, then it would confirm previous rumors of Aquaman's trident being in Waller's possession.

Screen Rant noted that there were also previous rumors regarding Aquaman's capture. There was also another that said Batman breaks into LexCorp to access surveillance footage of Aquaman, leading people to believe that it was Lex Luthor (Jesse Eisenberg) who captured the hero.

Of course, all these are still unconfirmed, but as Cinema Blend noted, Aquaman's capture will help connect his storyline to "Suicide Squad" and eventually, to the rest of the DCCU. The outlet noted that because Aquaman will be among the leading superheroes for the first installment of "Justice League," Aquaman will eventually break free from Waller and will make his way back to Atlantis, which is how his solo film will be introduced for 2018.

As for King Shark, he was written in the comics as a villain who made his way to Aquaman's storyline and recently crossed over to the "Suicide Squad" comic as a hammerhead terrorizing the islands of Hawaii, where he was captured by Waller. However, as Cinema Blend noted in a separate article,King Shark will likely get a limited role in the upcoming "Suicide Squad" film, which will be centered on DC's notable villains, including The Joker, Harley Quinn, Deadshot, Captain Boomerang, and The Enchantress.

Before that, though, you may catch Jason Momoa and a few Suicide Squad members on "Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice," which will be making its way to theaters in March 2016.
