Penelope Cruz's father, Eduardo Cruz, reportedly died of a heart attack in Spain early Thursday, June 18.

The news came from Hello! magazine's Spanish sister publication Hola!, which got the report from the brother of Eduardo's wife, Carmen Moreno.

Hello! reported that he passed away at age 62 while in La Manga, Spain with his wife and 3-year-old daughter, Salma. According to the news outlet, Cruz and Moreno married in April 2014 after a 12-year relationship. The two managed a beauty salon together near their home.

According to Hello! magazine, the "Pirates of the Caribbean" actress was said to be close to her father. Eduardo would attend Cruz's film premieres in Madrid, and even visited the movie star while shooting "Ma Ma."

Cruz is the oldest out of three children from Eduardo's first marriage with Encarna Sánchez, whom he separated from in 1999, NY Daily News noted. Cruz's younger siblings are Monica, a TV actress in Spain, and Eduardo Jr., a musician who previously dated "Desperate Housewives" star Eva Longoria, Hello! magazine added.

Eduardo reportedly had heart ailments and was confined in a Madrid hospital in 2004 due to angina pectoris, Hello! magazine wrote. In 2008 and 2012, he was once again admitted to the hospital because of his heart problems.

An official statement from Cruz's representatives hasn't been made public yet.

Known for being private about her personal life, Cruz, 41, talked briefly about her childhood in an interview with Allure magazine in 2013.

"There was always music, and everybody was dancing, sometimes naked around the house," she recounted of her childhood in Spain, as quoted by Us Weekly. "Not hippie, but very free."

The brunette beauty also previously said that her family is the most important thing in her life, admitting that she limited her acting commitments to give more time to her husband, actor Javier Bardem, and their two children, Leo, 3, and 1-year-old Luna, Hello! magazine added.

"You need to have time for your own life and as a mother that changes even more," Cruz said, as reported by Hello! magazine. "Family is the most important thing for me... and if you have children you want to raise them yourself."

Last month, it was reported that Cruz and Bardem purchased a £1.8 million luxurious sixth-floor apartment overlooking Madrid's Retiro Park, Mirror Online wrote.

The couple is set to collaborate on the big screen once again as the leads of a biopic about Colombian drug lord Pablo Escobar, Fox News Latino reported. The project is based on Virginia Vallejo's 2008 best-selling memoir "Loving Pablo, Hating Escobar."

"Escobar" will mark the seventh film collaboration of Bardem, 46, and Cruz, Fox News Latino noted. The movie stars previously worked together in "Jamon Jamon" (1992), "Love Can Seriously Damage Your Health" (1996), "Trembling Flesh" (1997), "Don't Tempt Me" (2001), "Vicky Christina Barcelona" (2008), and "The Counselor" (2013).

Bardem is also portraying the villain Captain Salazar in the upcoming fifth installment of the "Pirates of the Caribbean" franchise.
