Samsung continues to work on mobile devices that are competitive enough to match Apple's upcoming releases with their upcoming premium level smartphones such as the Galaxy Note 5 and mobile devices that match active lifestyles like the recently released Galaxy S6 Active.

Samsung Galaxy Note 5 Release Date

Rumors surfaced that the next generation of the Galaxy Note 5 is set to be released earlier than expected in order to get a head start on the upcoming iPhone releases, Tech Times revealed Thursday.

The report cited rumors which emerged in May that indicating a July release is looming for the Galaxy Note 5, a break from the traditional IFA launch in September.

Samsung wants to be the "early bird," according to the reports because the South Korea electronics company aims to prevent being overshadowed by Apple that has scheduled the release the new iPhone 6s and 6s Plus in September 2015.

However, Samsung CEO J.K. Shin immediately denied this rumor through a report from GSM Arena, explaining that the new generation of their premium phablet would be released in August or the first week of September.

Specifications

Tech Times revealed that the next generation of Samsung's Galaxy Note line is set to sport either a quad-HD or Ultra HD display with higher resolution. The site also indicated that the premium device would be powered by an octa-core Exynos processor that Samsung developed along with a bumped up RAM of 4GB. In terms of photos, says the report, Note 5 is rumored to have 3D-imaging capabilities all thanks to a dual-rear camera setup.

In addition, Android Headlines also noted other rumors that describe the new Galaxy Note to sport a massive 5.89-inch display with a 2K resolution and would probably add a new charging port to support the Type-C connectors that users seem to be fond of.

The International Business Times also predicted it to have a 7.9 mm frame which, compared to the Galaxy Note 4's 8.5mm thickness, can be considered ultra-thin. While thinner phones mean smaller batteries, the Note 5 is slated to sport a 4100 mAh battery in order to have enough power to supply for its upgraded specifications.

Reviews for Samsung S6 Active

Meanwhile, Samsung's recently released S6 Active received a lot of compliments from mobile phone users particularly because of its sturdiness inside and out, with Digital Trends noting how it still has all the high-end features of the classic Samsung S6 but with "a tough, rugged body that can take a real beating."

Wes Siler of Indefinitely Wild took the Samsung S6 Active to the ultimate outdoor test and compared it to the pilot version of Samsung S6, noting that the frame alone sports a tougher shell made of plastic, complete with bumpers and raised ridges to prevent the screen glass from having contact with any flat surface. Plus, it upgraded the IP67-level waterproof feature of Samsung S5 and S5 Active to IP68, making it able to withstand being drenched in as low as 5 feet for 30 minutes without short-circuiting.

The battery's capacity, which was originally at 2550 mAh, has been increased to 3500 mAh. Nevertheless, the batteries on both S6 versions cannot be removed. Physical buttons also reappeared in this smartphone with the additional "Active" button on the side that can be programmed based on the user's needs.
