Once upon a time, Nicole Kidman thought that she'll never accept a film role if it requires her to wear a shower cap and kiss girls.

But during her speech at the Women in Film's 2015 Crystal + Lucy Awards, Kidman did something that her fans will remember for a long time. According to Vanity Fair, she recalled the time when she was offered a particular role at 14, and she said, "I wanted to be the kind of actress with long flowing hair [who] kissed boys . . . I was not ready to do the kind of work that threatened anybody."

But now that she's already an established actress, Kidman regretted turning down the role and while on stage, she decided that it wasn't too late for her to redo the scene, which was intended for "A Girl's Own Story."

She exclaimed, "Well, today I know better and I say, 'Jane, if you're out there . . . I'm ready to don this cap.'"

She immediately took out a shower cap from her purse and was joined by her friend Naomi Watts on stage, where they proceeded to kiss in front of the audience while wearing shower caps.

Kidman also said that she is no longer afraid to do the unexpected, and she urged women to do the same. While her liplock with her longtime friend gathered a lot of buzz, her speech for the awards show is inspiring in itself.

Her speech was peppered with discussion about supporting women in film by telling the audience, "Let's pledge together today to be there for that girl, to support her artistically, emotionally [and] financially."

She also added, "Let us create opportunities for her and teach her to manage that inner voice that is trying so hard every day to hold her back. Let us show her that she is strong, smart, and talented and she deserves every part that might interest her and at equal pay, too."

Others honored at the dinner ceremony include director Ava DuVernay, "Transparent" creator Jill Soloway, talent agent Toni Howard, Warner Bros. Executive Sue Kroll, and actress Kate Mara. CBS News noted that the Crystal + Lucy Awards, founded in 1977, aims to raise funds for the Women In Film Organization to recognize trailblazers in the film industry.

Check out the much-talked about kiss in the video below. Following a long list of performers who have already done the same, did this stint still shock you?
