Juan Manuel Marquez is continuously being linked to Manny Pacquiao, who is looking for a fifth fight against the Mexican boxing icon, but Marquez remains uninterested in facing his longtime rival.

Mexican boxing trainer Nacho Beristain said that Marquez remains firm on his stand that the Pacquiao chapter of his career is already over and that the 40-year-old boxer is only interested in one fight -- the rematch with Timothy Bradley.

Beristain added that if a fight with Bradley will not be arranged, Marquez will not hesitate to end his storied boxing career.

Marquez, who previously said that he has nothing to prove against Pacquiao after his sensational sixth-round knockout win in December, wants another shot against Bradley, who scored a split-decision win in their World Boxing Organization welterweight title showdown in October.

"Juan has only one goal - to confront Timothy Bradley in a rematch. If that does not happen, he will retire. Juan wants to win another world championship, in a fifth division, and Bradley has the welterweight title," Beristain said in a statement via Boxingscene.

Aside from Pacquiao and Bradley, Marquez is also being linked to WBO junior welterweight champion Ruslan Provodnikov.

Last month, WBO named Marquez as the number one contender to Provodnikov's title but Marquez is also uninterested in facing the Russian champion.

Beristain confirmed that WBO president Francisco Valcarcel will travel to Mexico to speak with Marquez about the possible showdown with Provodnikov, but the famed trainer admitted that he doesn't know what will come out after the planned talk.

"I do not know what will come out of the conversation with Valcarcel," Beristain said.

Earlier this month, Provodnikov's manager Vadim Kornilov called out Marquez and his camp, saying that the Mexican will have no choice but to face the Russian champion, especially if the proposed rematch between Pacquiao and Bradley is sealed.

"If a compromise is reached and Pacquiao fights Mayweather or Bradley, Marquez will have to fight Ruslan Provodnikov because that would be the only remaining fight for Marquez that people would actually want to see on HBO pay-per-view," Kornilov told Boxingscene.
