The Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 may be available in the market sooner than expected as recent reports indicate that it could be released before the year ends.

Ecumenical News noted that the upcoming device will soon be experienced by Samsung fans. It added that it will come with an 8-inch screen with 1536 x 2048 pixels resolution. The Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 will also reportedly run in a 1.9 GHz quad-core processor for a faster mobile experience.

In discussing the size of the device, Pocket-Lint said leaked photos of the upcoming device which came out last month showed that it may sport a metal frame just like the Samsung Galaxy S6.

The same report said that the Tab S2 8.0, as it is named, will have a dimension of 198 x 134 x 5.4mm and will weigh just 260g. The 8-inch tablet will reportedly have a 1,536 x 1,048 screen resolution and is expected to have a 9.7-inch version.

A similar Yibada report noted that the device will be packed with an octa-core Exynos SoC, 3GB RAM and 32 GB internal storage. As for its camera, the same article said its rear camera will be 8MP, while its front-facing shooter will be 2.1 MP.

"The line will have two core variants - the Galaxy Tab S2 9.7 and the Galaxy Tab S2 8.0 pertaining to the screen sizes of the tablets. The two models will further have two variants, namely Wi-Fi only and Wi-Fi plus LTE," added the Yibada report.

According to DigitalTrends,  Android 5.0.2 Lollipop is said to be the operating system of the Tab S2.

It was added in the same report that the tablet versions could be launched as early as this month to the end of the year though there is still no official announcement from Samsung. The Tab S2 will be sold in different parts of the world i.e. the US, Canada, Europe, China, Korea and India.

However, AndroidGuys mentioned that the downside of this device could be its battery life. "The Tab S gets maybe 5-7 hours of on screen time which just isn't that great for a tablet," AndroidGuys wrote, noting that it should optimize its battery life to be more efficient.

A similar PC Advisor report stated that when the device becomes available in the market, it could cost between $489 and $612—for the two versions—taking into consideration the initial price of the Tab S when it was launched last year.

According to VR Zone, Asian telecommunications regulator TENAA disclosed the listing of the Tab S2 8.0, which matched earlier rumors that it will come in 8- and 9-inch variants with 4:3 aspect ratio AMOLED panels. As for its dimensions, it could beat Dell's 6.1 mm Venue 8 7000 by at least 1mm.

Samsung has not yet disclosed official information on the device though Yibada said it will give users a more "premium" feel compared to other tablets with similar specifications.
