Zayn Malik becomes worldwide trend in Twitter as the microblogging platform go into a flurry about his alleged return to One Direction.

But is the former One Direction member really coming back? Many of his Twitter fans think so as speculations on his alleged return to the all-male pop group surfaced and flooded the social networking site, according to a report from OK Magazine.

Back in March, the crooner and crowd-favorite formerly announced that he would be leaving the group because of his intention of becoming a "normal 22-year-old," away from the scrutinizing eye of the public.

This was confirmed by the group's handlers in a statement posted over Facebook and cited by Hollywood Life, which read: "After five incredible years Zayn Malik has decided to leave One Direction. Niall, Harry, Liam and Louis will continue as a four-piece and look forward to the forthcoming concerts of their world tour and recording their fifth album, due to be released later this year."

His bandmates also expressed their regrets of being separated from their pal since for five long years, they have "gone through so much together," adding that they would always be friends with the 22-year-old singer.

"I know I have four friends for life in Louis, Liam, Harry and Niall. I know they will continue to be the best band in the world," the Hollywood Life quoted his post over social media.

On June 14, nearly 2 months after his departure from the group, reports surfaced about his potential return to the limelight with One Direction because of some changes in the pop band's website and Facebook page

According to Sugarscape, these rumor-sparking changes include Malik's profile reportedly being re-added to the website and his farewell statement being deleted on Facebook.

But this, says Hollywood Life, is far from the truth saying that an insider source explained how "miffed" Mailk is with the rumors about his alleged return to 1D.

"The speculation bothers him. He left the group because he couldn't handle the high-profile that came with the band in the end, and he wants to get away from all that," the source added.

Fans took to Twitter to express their thoughts over the report with @Idonuthing writing, "GUYS ALWAYS REMEMBER NEVER FORGET #zayniscomingback," with a snapshot of Zayn's tweet that people should not believe everything they read.

Some even created personalized memes and screenshots of their phone screen with Malik's photos on it, and posted them on Twitter to express their deepest desire for the rumors to turn out to be true.
