"The Avengers" actor Jeremy Renner recently posted a promotional image for "Captain America: Civil War" on his Twitter account, showing Captain America (Chris Evans) on one side, and Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr) on the other, with a question posted for fans: Whose side are you on?

While the war may be between Captain America and Iron Man, Marvel is facing a bigger problem with critics as the company found themselves in the middle of a sexism scandal in the wake of the latest MCU film release, "Avengers: Age of Ultron."

Yahoo! Movies noted that not only was Marvel criticized for their portrayal of Scarlet Johannson's Black Widow, their own star, Mark Ruffalo (the Hulk) also pointed out that there is lack of merchandise available for the female characters. This proves true not only for the Black Widow, but Elizabeth Olsen's Scarlett Witch, and Zoe Saldana's Gamora (from "Guardians of the Galaxy) as well.

The lack of female hero merchandise actually blew up enough that senior VP of licensing for Marvel at the Disney Consumer Products Paul Gitter, told Variety, "We'll see an extension mixing in new characters with new skills. There will also be a big focus on adult female apparel."

As for the "Civil War" movie itself, there is news about which characters will be taking whose side. According to JoBlo, Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman) will be making his appearance for the first time, and he will definitely be on Tony Stark's side, and they are both in favor of the Superhero Registration Act.

Ant Man will also be making an appearance on "Civil War" however, unlike the 1960's version, Paul Rudd will be sporting a more modern costume and will take not only the Ant Man persona, but a Giant Man form as well.

Costume changes are also expected from the other characters, with Captain America sporting his trademark Chainmail Armor that was seen as important in the comic books as it makes him less susceptible to damage.

Don Cheadle's War Machine will also have some serious upgrades as he will be sporting a tank-style armor with a new dual weapon that will serve as shoulder cannon, and can be detached as a warhammer or baton.

While these updates and costume upgrades seem legit, it is important to note that without confirmation from the studios, it is better to take them as rumors rather than real news, not that it lessens the excitement.

"Captain America: Civil War" will hit theaters on May 6, 2016.
