Microsoft just recently announced that the Surface Hub will be available for businesses starting on July 1.

The new large-screen collaboration device was first announced at the tech giant's event last January, which featured its latest Windows 10, Digital Trends wrote. The Surface Hub will be available in two main configurations: the 55-inch variant for $6,999 and the 84-inch version for $19,999.

"While there are a number of devices designed to improve our productivity as individuals, there has yet to be a device that is truly optimized for a group of people to use together -- designed not just for what we need to do, but how we want to work. Until now," said Mike Angiulo, corporate vice president of Microsoft Devices, as reported by the corporation's website. "Just as the PC revolutionized productivity for individuals, Surface Hub will transform the way groups of people work together."

The touch-enabled TV and its accessories will begin shipping in 24 markets worldwide in September. This includes the U.S., Canada, Australia, Japan, UAE, Spain, France, Singapore, and the U.K., Microsoft said on their site.

Features

The Surface Hub is equipped with built-in Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC and a variety of ports for easy wired and wireless connectivity options, Microsoft listed. The device is also integrated with optically bonded displays that have the ability to detect 100 points of multitouch and up to three simultaneous pen inputs.

Aside from these, the Surface Hub also has two 1080p front-facing video cameras and a four-element microphone array to detect and follow voices, which means that the device can eliminate background noise to provide clearer sound during video conference sessions, the news outlet added.

The Surface Hub's screen display also has a matte and textured finish, Engadget wrote. Unlike other gadgets with touchscreen displays, the device's surface is not that slippery, which makes writing on it more natural.

Processor & OS

According to Digital Trends, the Surface Hub runs using a fourth-generation Intel Core processor, with the 55-inch version powered by an Intel HD Graphics 4600. The 84-inch variant comes with a NVIDIA Quadro K2200 for graphics.

Engadget pointed out that the Surface Hub is "a fully functioning Windows 10 PC, capable of running any app that would run on any other Windows machine." The device is also easier to use, given that it won't need users to log in and instead accept commands just by writing on its screen. With its 100 simultaneous touch points, the Surface Hub can accommodate multiple people writing on its screen at once, or dragging and holding elements across its surface.
