Among the numerous new games announced during the VGX video game award show on Spike TV, Telltale Games, the creators of the critically-acclaimed The Walking Dead game, revealed that not only was the company making a spinoff title based on the Borderlands series from Gearbox, but they were making a Game of Thrones game as well. Now, Telltale has released new details about the upcoming game, including which consoles the game will appear on.

According to a press release for the game, Telltale will be making many games based on Game of Thrones for several home and mobile consoles:

"The multi-year, multi-title partnership between Telltale and HBO Global Licensing is targeted to premiere digitally in 2014 with an episodic game series for home consoles, PC/Mac, and mobile devices. Specific platform details are yet to be announced."

Dan Conners, co-founder and CEO of Telltale Games, is excited that the studio now has access to the popular Game of Thrones series for several years and can create their own story in the world of Westeros:

"Since the very beginning, Telltale's goal has been to work alongside the most talented and respected forces in entertainment, bringing their worlds to the interactive space as no other game studio can...Working with HBO to develop a new game series based on Game of Thrones is a natural fit for our studio. This partnership will create an experience that will captivate the huge, global Game of Thrones audience. It will put them in control of the epic stories of warfare, intrigue, violence and revenge that we know and love."

Director of Global Licensing for HBO Josh Goodstadt shared his enthusiasm that HBO has working with Telltale Games on the official Game of Thrones game:

"We're delighted to be working with Telltale Games, a proven leader in the creation of engaging interactive content...Our fans are always looking for new, exciting ways to engage with the Game of Thrones brand and this game series will put them right in the middle of the action by letting them decide where the story will lead. This brings a whole new dimension to the world of Westeros."

Considering Telltale Games' stellar reputation, HBO has picked the right studio to create a "Game of Thrones" game, and it should be one of the best games of 2014 whenever it is released.
