Samsung's Galaxy S6 Active was just recently unveiled. The brand-new smartphone's specifications boast of tougher capabilities designed for active lifestyles. Samsung fans might wonder how the Galaxy S6 Active compares to its sister device, the Galaxy S6 Edge.

We compared the features and specifications of the Galaxy S6 Active and Galaxy S6 Edge.

Design & Display

The Galaxy S6 Active is available in Camo White, Gray, and Camo Blue colors, all equipped with a 5.1-inch Quad HD Super AMOLED® display with 577 PPI, a resolution that is perfect for outdoor viewing, AT&T reported.

The Galaxy S6 Edge, on the other hand, has 5.1" Quad HD Super AMOLED with 2560 x 1440 (577 ppi), along with a dual edge display, GSM Arena wrote.

Camera

As for taking photos and videos, the Galaxy S6 Active is armed with a 16 MP primary camera with Auto-Real time High Dynamic Range (HDR) and a 5 MP front shooter featuring wide-angle lens perfect for taking selfies. The cameras can be launched quickly through double tapping the Home button, AT&T noted.

The Galaxy S6 Edge has a 16 MP primary camera with optical image stabilization, autofocus, and LED flash. Like the Galaxy S6 Active, the smartphone also has a 5 MP secondary shooter.

Processor & OS

The Galaxy S6 Active runs using the Octa-core 64-bit processor, with the Android 5.0.2 Lollipop as its operating system, AT&T wrote. The Galaxy S6 Edge, meanwhile, is powered by 64-bit Octa Core, with the Exynos 8420 as its chipset and the Android 5.0.2 Lollipop as its OS, GSM Arena added.

Storage & Battery

As for its storage and battery power, Samsung's latest handset is capable of storing 32 GB worth of files in its internal space, AT&T disclosed. The device also features a 3500mAh battery armed with wireless charging technology.

The Galaxy S6 Edge's 2600mAh battery boasts 10-minute fast charging, Samsung's Official Site said. It has 3 GB worth of RAM space and choices of 32, 64, or 128 GB internal memory storage.

Other Notable Features

Samsung's latest offering also comes with features designed to make it more durable for customers. AT&T's website lists that the handset is water resistant up to 1.5 meters until 30 minutes. The device is also shock resistant and dust proof.

Other specs included in the Galaxy S6 Active are the HD Voice capability, Activity Zone feature, and Samsung KNOX.

As for the Galaxy S6 Edge, the smartphone has the S Voice feature, along with the One Shot command and wireless charging.

Price

The Galaxy S6 Edge has a starting price of $861, Samsung's UK site indicated. AT&T priced the Galaxy S6 Active with $199 on a two year contract, Business Insider reported.
