The official design and full specifications of Samsung's Galaxy S6 Active has been released. Boasting tougher capabilities, the smartphone comes in a sleek and lightweight body designed for those users practicing active lifestyles.

The Galaxy S6 Active is available in Camo White, Gray, and Camo Blue colors, all equipped with a 5.1-inch Quad HD Super AMOLED® display with 577 PPI, a resolution that is perfect for outdoor viewing.

The smartphone has a 16 MP primary camera and a 5 MP front shooter, which can be launched quickly through double tapping the Home button. The Auto-Real time High Dynamic Range (HDR) present in the camera also allows users to capture clever shots in any kind of light. Selfie fanatics are in for a treat in the front snapper's wide-angle lens.

Processor & OS

The Galaxy S6 Active runs using the Octa-core 64-bit processor, with the Android 5.0.2 Lollipop as its operating system.

Storage, & Battery

As for its storage and battery power, Samsung's latest handset is capable of storing 32 GB worth of files in its internal space. The device also features a 3500mAh battery armed with wireless charging technology that uses wireless charging pads instead of cords and plugs.

Samsung's latest offering also comes with features designed to make it more durable for customers. AT&T's website lists that the handset is water resistant up to 1.5 meters until 30 minutes. The device is also shock resistant and dust proof.

Other specs included in the Galaxy S6 Active are the HD Voice capability, Activity Zone feature, and Samsung KNOX. The Activity Zone includes a quick launching compass, flashlight, and stopwatch, among others. The Samsung KNOX, meanwhile, provides security and protection for users, "along with support for MDM partners, making device management easy for IT administrators," AT&T wrote.

Price

AT&T priced the Galaxy S6 Active with $199 on a two year contract, Business Insider reported. For those looking for monthly payments, the carrier's Next plans are as follows: Next 24 worth $23.17 at 30 payments, Next 18 worth $28.96 at 24 payments, and the Next 12 for $34.75 at 20 payments.

Release Date

Starting on June 12, customers can buy the Galaxy S6 Active on www.att.com/galaxys6active or at AT&T stores. Business Insider pointed out that the smartphone's announcement didn't come off as a surprise that much, given that Samsung accidentally posted the user manual for the device last week on the tech giant's US mobile website. It was taken down immediately, but 9to5Google managed to save a screenshot of the file.
