A new promo image for "Terminator: Genisys" has been released courtesy of License! Magazine. The upcoming installment of the long-running franchise starring Arnold Schwarzenegger and Emilia Clarke will be hitting the screens on June 30, and it looks like this one will be one for the books.

While the franchise is among the most popular ones in film, producer David Ellison has emphasized that "Genisys" is not a reboot.
He told The Philippine Star, "'Terminator Genisys' is not a remake, it's not a reboot, it's not a sequel-it's really a reimagining based on the original James Cameron source material."
The outlet mentioned that the film will be set in 2029, with the resistance rallies believing that they have conquered Skynet, only to learn otherwise. The Terminator was then sent back in time to kill Sarah Connor before she has the chance to give birth to the leader of the human resistance, and ultimately, to stop the arrival of Judgment Day.
However, as it has been with science fiction and time travel, it's not a good idea to change the past, and in "Genisys," John Connor and Sgt. Kyle Reese created a fracture in the timeline when they went back to save Sarah Conner, finding themselves in an unfamiliar version of the past.
Despite Ellison's insistence on "Genisys" not being a reboot, it seems that fans think it's time to put Schwarzenegger's robot self to rest, considering how the series has already gone too long, with different actors playing its hero. According to Movie Pilot, even though the trailers and teasers seem to be full of iconography from its previous movies, there is no specific clue pointing out to what the film is going to be about, and how it is going to set itself apart from the franchise.
For Ellison, he is confident that his version of the film is going to be memorable. He also told the Philippine Star, "The 1984 that our characters travel back to has been altered since the original movie-events have transpired that have driven it in a completely different direction. Also those films were always set in present day, not in the future, not in the past. Ours bends that set-up. And so, through a series of events, our characters find themselves traveling forward to 2017 in an attempt to stop Judgment Day from ever happening."
