Formula One executive Bernie Ecclestone recently revealed that he is not able to visit recovering F1 champion Michael Schumacher because he cannot afford to see him in such terrible condition.

Yahoo EuroSport reported that Ecclestone has refused to visit the seven-time champion, who is currently recovering from serious head injuries in his Geneva home.

"I don't want to see Michael like that. I remember Michael as he was. That is how I want to see Michael. If he comes back, that is how I want Michael to be," Ecclestone said.

The F1 CEO and the racer reportedly share a great relationship, such that they even played backgammon in Ecclestone's motorhome on race weekends. It is not surprising that Ecclestone wants to paint a picture of a healthy and strong Schumacher in his mind.

The Independent opined that it is rare for Ecclestone to "show his compassionate side" since he is under constant pressure in his work as the Formula One Group head.

"But his comments regarding Schumacher shows that, despite opinion, Ecclestone can express his emotions, especially on his memories of seeing Schumacher at the height of his powers when he won the title five times in a row in a relentless domination behind the wheel," explained the same report.

This also shows that the two indeed share a friendly relationship apart from the professional relationship they have.

According to Daily Mail, the F1 head also remembered his greatest regrets in the racing sport, like giving the shares of the company to his ex-wife Slavica. Aside from this, Ecclestone also spoke about the biggest influences in his career. "I was a big admirer of Mr Ferrari in the old days, though in the newspapers it never looked like it," he said.

It can be noted that Schumacher fought for his life after he hit his head on a rock while skiing in France. He was reportedly taken to the nearby Grenoble University Hospital and had the blood clots on his brain removed prior to being transferred to a Lausanne hospital.

Schumacher was under a coma for some time. He was eventually transferred to his residence near Lake Geneva last year where he still currently stays. He is said to be doing a bit better with his entire family supporting him.

There have been no concrete details on his recovery because of the news blackout that Schumacher's family wanted to maintain.

Prior to the accident, Schumacher was known to be one of the most successful drivers in the history of F1. He won seven world championships.

Nevertheless, There are still no definite reports on the condition of the racer but his fans are hoping that he will fully recover soon.
