Week’s Best
Be sure to check out Childish Gambino’s second studio release, “Because the Internet,” after its release on Tuesday. His talent and versatility shines through in his new album as he draws influence from trap, R&B, synth pop, and new styles of rap, offering a unique taste on every track. Childish Gambino, or Donald Glover, is best known for his Internet comedy sketches with Derrick Comedy and his role as college student Troy Barnes on NBC’s “Community.”He’s an American actor, writer, comedian and hip-hop artist.
Week’s Worst
R. Kelly has mastered the R&B song format. In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, he showed the world how he could turn anything into an R&B track. The subject matter varied from ice skating to Italian sandwiches. It was hilarious, but it proves that he puts little to no thought into his music. He’s mastered the formula, so in his mind, why would he want to change it? Kelly’s newest album, “Black Panties,” showcases the same Kelly we’ve been listening to for the past two decades. It’s more of the same mindless singing about sexual conquests with little melodic direction. Kelly’s voice is still as strong as it ever was, but we’ve heard enough.
