The 2013 hit Disney animation "Frozen" is definitely getting a sequel, and no, it's not going to be as short as "Frozen Fever."
Idina Menzel told Billboard that although she knows very little about the movie's production plans, she loves the fact that a sequel is in the works.
"Honestly, I think they're in the writing/creative stages, so there's not much to talk about, other than we're really excited that there's a future," she said.
In March, John Lasseter, Disney's creative officer, expressed excitement as well. Variety took note of his remarks, which said, "We enjoyed making 'Frozen Fever' so much and being back in that world with those characters. Jennifer Lee and Chris Buck have come up with a great idea for a sequel and you will be hearing a lot more about it and we're taking you back to Arendelle. We are so excited about that."
While news surrounding the film's plot and storyline are scarce, fans have come up with their own ideas. One of the more popular theories pegs a new villain, with powers directly challenging Elsa's ice: the power of fire.
Other fan fiction suggestions included the angle that Prince Hans could return as a changed man, which, although a bit of a stretch, is not entirely impossible as far as Disney villains go.
There is also the possibility of exploring a darker past from Kristoff. This theory came from a Reddit user, who said, "I'm probably slow but have only just noticed that in Frozen, Kristoff's coat is made from fur. And if you look closer at the pics the fur part seems to be reindeer. I don't think it can be wolf cos the pelt is too big. That makes it a bit awkward, tho, that Kristoff's best friend is a reindeer and he's actually wearing his skin. But in the context of the story, it all fits together."
"The ice harvesters must have killed Sven's mother, leaving a baby Sven for Kristoff to look after, and giving him the pelt to wear. This explains why Sven is so close to Kristoff too, and why Kristoff still wears the same pelt. The smell reminds Sven of his mum," the theorist went on.
Meanwhile, on a lighter note, Mirror UK noted that fans are pushing for a Kristoff-and-Anna wedding, and because this is Disney, someone should get a happy-ever-after soon, right?
While there is no confirmed release date yet, The Telegraph does not expect to see "Frozen 2" until 2018.
