All good things must come to end. Even the best things in life will become spoiled if left out for too long, so consume them before it’s too late and remember them for their prosperity and glory, not their downfall. This is particularly true for television shows. Often the quality begins to dwindle in their later seasons. Even the best series tend to taper off as they progress. It’s best to cut them off before it’s too late, before fans completely lose interest and ratings plummet to an all time low. It’s tragic to see your favorite show come to an end, but it’s for the best.

After six years of success, Showtime has announced that it will cancel “Californication” after its 12-episode Season 7, which begins in April. In its final season, the show will shift its focus towards Hank Moody’s (David Duchovny) awful television show, “Santa Monica Cop.”

"With its unique blend of lyricism and excess, ‘Californication’ has been one of our groundbreaking signature series," said Showtime’s president of entertainment, David Nevins, in a statement. "We will always be indebted to Tom Kapinos for leading the creative charge on this memorable comedy, and to David Duchovny for making us root for an unapologetic hedonist like Hank Moody. Tom has carefully planned the final chapter of Hank's journey and has brought it to a beautiful and satisfying conclusion for new and longtime fans alike."

The final season will “neatly wrap up” the characters’ storylines and hopefully find peace for Hank Moody. After years of failed love and self loathing, the guy deserves it. On the other hand, he hasn’t been the best husband or father. Perhaps he deserves to live a sad, loveless life instead. We’ll just have to wait and see.
