Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn has declared that English boxer Amir Khan is scared of facing IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook because a possible loss could ruin his boxing career.
According to Daily Mail, Brook's promoter slammed Khan's camp for making the fight with the welterweight champ impossible to happen because of their demands.
"They don't want to fight Kell Brook because of the fear of getting beat. 100 per cent I believe they think they can win the fight but if they lose to Brook they can forget (Floyd) Mayweather and (Manny) Pacquiao). He's just scared to fight Kell Brook. I'm sorry but that's the truth. Not because he thinks he can't win but because he's scared of the potential of losing and what it could do to his career," Hearn said.
His rant went on with him saying that Khan does not have any excuse for not agreeing to talk about the fight.
"Don't listen to that bull**** and don't buy it. They don't even want to have a conversation about a deal," Hearn added.
In March, Khan expressed his intention to fight Brook, with him noting that the fight might happen this year.
The English boxer outclassed Chris Algieri in a 12-round battle at the Barclays Center in New York on Friday and his victory has got fans excited to a potential Brook matchup.
However, Hearn maintained that Khan is not even interested in having a conversation with them.
"Since he's boxed Danny Garcia, who has he fought? (Carlos) Molina, (Julio) Diaz, Devon Alexander and Algieri. Neither of them could take the skin off a rice pudding!" the boxing promoter continued.
According to Boxing Scene, Brook is excited for new opportunities awaiting him and claimed that the planned fight between him and Khan is "getting boring.
"He doesn't want to hear it. I have the title so why not come and fight me. Frankie [Gavin] had the cojones to get in a fight with me so I take my hat off to him. Frankie is very crafty and they smart in the ring so I knew he would be tricky for a few rounds but I knew it would be a matter of time until I nailed him," Brook told Boxing Scene after stopping Gavin during the sixth round of their fight on Sunday at the O2 Arena in London.
With the Khan-Brook fight less likely to happen, Fight Saga said Khan could go up against the undefeated Floyd Mayweather Jr. next, noting that the former has the "size, speed and footwork" which matches "The Money's" skills.
Interestingly, the general public is hoping that the Khan-Mayweather fight will not turn out like the Pacquiao-Mayweather bout which left many spectators disappointed.
